Trained in London with a major international firm and spent many years working for US multinationals before moving back into general practice.
Over the years I have assisted clients grow their businesses and expand, some of whom ventured into the foreign markets and advised on setting up subsidiaries overseas, joint ventures and collaboration structures and extensive experience in advising clients on transactional taxes and employee share incentives, my experience includes advising on the tax aspects of debt restructuring, corporate acquisitions, financing, and disposal of UK and cross border business. I spend considerable time advising on tax planning for both businesses and private individuals including executives, entrepreneurs, individual investors, trustees, and companies on all aspects of employment and capital taxes including Estate planning.
I have been involved in advising my clients in both acquisitions and sales of companies, valuing corporate structures, tax planning, negotiating, and funding strategy to achieving the best possible results for my clients.
My experience in running my own businesses has meant that my clients are able to benefit from my knowledge as an entrepreneur and someone who knows at first-hand what it takes to succeed , I always believed that an Entrepreneur’s mindset is different
I Set up one of the largest multimedia company in Europe including acquiring a manufacturing facility from Sony Corporation in South Wales and supplied music plants, like Sony, Emi and Technicolor and software industries like Microsoft, Saturn and Zomax with packaging materials.
As the packaging industry evolved and changed to digital format , so did our strategy and moved into manufacturing beauty packaging products using aluminium to supply the likes of Revlon, L’Oréal and other major brands.
My moto has always been to grow by having a sideways view of life, understanding tradition but never being a slave to it. Wanting to be a business of characters, acting for characters in business
I love travelling, meeting new people and love exchanging new ideas, I love to see people of different countries and cultures coming together and achieve so much when working and exchanging ideas as it has always been my firm belief that there is always a better way of doing things if one keeps an open mind.
Steve Brown
My background is in the Banking and Leasing Industry where i specialised in business and public sector funding.
I also have extensive experience in manufacturing, logistics, Foreign Exchange management and raising funds for both working capital purposes and also both long-term and medium term investments including injection of Capital for business growth.
In any business there will always be times when, either due to expansion or change in the business strategy, there is a need for external funding. This is a specialised area and subject to a wide range of products and even wider range of pricing and costs associated with the various options. One of my specialities is assisting our clients in making the best choices in funding and often at considerable cost savings.
Colin Nightingale
I started my accountancy career in 1996. In 2006 i joined Shaikh & Co as in my view it was a great place to come to a firm which had a wide range of clients in both domestic and international arena and in different and varied industries, this continues to this date in that the firm continues to provide the personal level of service normally only associated with small company but with the expertise of a large international firm, the variety and wide range of expertise within the firm is extremely reassuring.
Dealing with so many of Shaikh & Co’s clients over the years has provided me with invaluable hands on experience and has helped me follow Shaikh & Co’s philosophy of establishing long term relationships through working alongside our clients, It is not surprising therefore that in my client portfolio I get a chance to deal with a large variety of clients of different sizes operating in different sectors of the industry, listening to clients and addressing their needs with care, commitment and enthusiasm.
I am a keen cyclist actively seeking new challenges, and am also a founder member of his local Rotary Club.
Colin James
I am an experienced tax practitioner who has a long association with Shaikh & Co. I am a former District Inspector of Taxes and investigator with the Special Compliance Office of H M Revenue & Customs and specialises in handling tax enquiries and checks at all levels ranging from routine reviews of personal Tax Returns and payroll records through to more serious cases of fraud and tax evasion.
Having worked with Shaikh & Co for over 25 years since leaving HM Revenue & Customs, I am experienced in resolving disputes and negotiating settlements with the tax authorities. Our firms philosophy is given the HRMC investigations are stressful, time consuming and can be expensive , we try to resolve the issues in the most equitable way as quickly as possible to avoid unnecessary pitfalls and unreasonable expenses..
During my spare time I enjoy travelling and sailing.
William Parker
I am an experienced Director in the technology market who has had a 25 year association with Shaikh & Co. I specialises in start-up and early stage companies looking to set up or expand in the UK, I am also used to dealing with businesses from other parts of the EU and further afield, frequently in conjunction with government development agencies or with private equity support.
My principal skill sets are in the sales and business development fields and I also advise on direct and channel sales approaches with the focus on delivering traction for the business in a particular market. I Particularly enjoying assisting our clients at Shaikh & Co who wish to establish new sales channels whether it is for new markets or new products.
In my spare time I enjoy swimming, cross country running and cricket and also a governor of the local School.
Anna Niu
I am an expert on Wealth Management and based in our office in PRC, having worked for several years in an Investment and Wealth Management Company in PRC, I am able to assist and help our potential clients in China seeking to invest and look for opportunities in the UK. I also have extensive experience in multi-national companies (Nike, Clarks and Decker’s) and understands how large companies are run to be efficient, profitable and successful
I look forward to helping Chinese businesses who wish to establish in the UK and also high net worth individuals wishing to set up business establishments in the UK or just wishing to invest in the UK, also my role is to assist our clients at Shaikh & Co who need our help in venturing into business in PRC and assist and guide them to achieve their objectives.
I have a degree in Certified Private Banking and Senior Chinese Financial Planning as well as attending a course for MBA at the Sun Yat-sen University having graduated from Shanghai International Studies University as a Bachelor of English Literature, so I am fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
In my spare time I like to read books and listen to Chinese classical music.
Sandra Horscroft
At the beginning of my career I worked within the finance departments of small firms and began studying for accounting career in 2002 whilst working for AXA PPP. This background prepared me extremely well for the intricacies of working in an Accounting Practice and at Shaikh & Co , I relish in my role as Client Manager for most of our Medium Sized businesses.
Being a client manager means I get a chance o meet and understand the clients requirements relating to all the work including accounting and bookkeeping before they are delegated to the appropriate member of the staff for completion, attention to detail ensure that all compliance work is thoroughly and accurately completed.
I am a keen warm water scuba diver when on holiday and also an avid follower of Rugby.
Denise Hadden
I started my accountancy career some 30 years ago, training and qualifying within a small practice. This gave me the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience in all aspects of accountancy, auditing and tax, for a broad spectrum of clients ranging from sole traders to large companies.
My background means that I am well placed to assist our clients with all their accounting and auditing needs.
Outside of the working environment I enjoy spending time with my children and taking long walks with my dogs.
