When does it make business sense to register for VAT?
No matter whether you are a new business just starting up or have been in business for a long time, Shaikh & Co can help you meet your VAT responsibilities.
When your business reaches a certain level of turnover it will be obligatory for it to be VAT registered, but in some instances it may pay the business to register for VAT even if the turnover is not high enough for compulsory registration.
There are complex rules and a fair bit of planning required if you sell or buy from overseas, or you sell on the internet; and there are planning opportunities available with which we can help you structure your business in the most efficient way to take advantage of the legislation.
Some businesses need to be VAT registered from the outset and some do not. Of course, if you are not registered for VAT yet, we will continue to monitor your situation, so that should it become obligatory for you to register for VAT, we can deal with all of the paperwork for you and advise you on the best VAT scheme for your business. VAT planning should be a key issue that is discussed regularly with your Accountant and you can count on us so keep up to date with all the latest rules and regulations. Should there ever be any disputes arising with HMRC then we will liaise with them for you. In contrast to all of this, we will also monitor your position for when we think you are able to and would benefit from deregistering.
We have some further helpful information for you on this subject so why not see our VAT Helpsheets for more information.
